Chapter 1 extract.

The wind was so cold and strong that their ears ached. Tom's nose had gone red and Stephanie's eyes were full of water, her eyelashes almost frozen.

'Do you want to do this? Now?' Tom asked his sister through the gloved hands he held up to protect his face. 'It's so windy we'll get blown off the face of the cliff and into the ocean.' He turned back towards the road.

'Come on, Tom,' urged Stephanie, grabbing him by the arm.

'Don't be so dramatic,' she yelled, as the wind whipped her words out to sea. 'We have to climb down to the beach. I've got to know what that thing is floating in the waves. Come on.'

She pulled him with such force that Tom almost lost his footing on the dirt track.
