Nothing But Net.

Nothnig But NetTOP SHOT SERIES This series of sequential novels was the first junior fiction about basketball published in Australia - like JEZZA, another first in sporting titles. The series is numbered from 1-4 on the books' spines, so make sure you read them in the right order and you'll enjoy them more!

#4 NOTHING BUT NET The Slammers have the chance to play state representative basketball, but are they really good enough? Their team seems less skilled and much shorter than the opposition teams. Will they let a new play join their team? He certainly seems to have the skill and height they need.

My Damien and his teammates inspired these stories by playing basketball each week, while I barracked and took notes courtside.

The Slammers and Star Rookie were published in 1995 by Little Ark, Allen & Unwin. Camp Phantom and Nothing But Net were published in 1996. They are now all out of print, but available at libraries.

Chapter 1 extract.

'But you agreed,' said Cheng. 'That last day at Camp Phantom, you all agreed Jono could join The Slammers.'

'Right, but only because that's what Parkey wanted,' said Russell.

'What else could we say with Parkey, Macca and Richard all waiting for an answer?' added Luca.

'What's wrong with Jono joining our team?' asked Louise. 'He's an excellent basketballer - and we need someone tall like him, especially now that Anthony's moved away and we'll be playing state rep.'

'Yeah, a bunch of shorties, that's what we are!' laughed Bobbi putting her elbow on James' shoulder to show just how much taller she was than him. 'A bunch of shorties playing a championship basketball! Unbelievable!' she added.
