Star Rookie.
TOP SHOT SERIES This series of sequential novels was the first junior fiction about basketball published in Australia - like JEZZA, another first in sporting titles. The series is numbered from 1-4 on the books' spines, so make sure you read them in the right order and you'll enjoy them more!
#2 STAR ROOKIE The Slammers are doing okay. They're really starting to play as a team and their skills are improving. But how can they afford new boots and singlets? What about a fundraiser game against the teachers and parents? Can they win the season? And will James be rookie of the year?
Chapter 1 extract.
'How badly did we play that first game?' said Cheng, who was captain of The Slammers.
Good thing Bobbi was there,' said Russell.
'Yep, without her we'd have lost the game for sure!' said James
'That basketball court looked like a battlefield,' Bobbi said dramatically. 'Bodies everywhere!'
'Well...it wasn't that bad,' said Azita. 'Do you guys mind if we have a quick team meeting before you and Bobbi start shooting baskets?'
The boys moaned. They were just finishing their lunch.
That first game seemed like months ago. They'd just managed to beat The Red Devils, thanks to Bobbi's good shooting. Since then, The Slammers had really pulled together as a team.
Azita was now official Team Co-ordinator. She was a whizz at getting things done.
